In this week’s Extraordinary People, we spotlight a local organization that saw our story and reached out to turn tragedy in triumph for those in need.Holly Stewart is the Chief Operating Officer of the Arc of Palm Beach County. She remembers the day that broke many hearts.”This was a heartbreaking experience for us. One of the trikes was specially used by a young man who rides it every week. So to have to call him and share with him that someone took his tricycle and then have him just say, he just wanted the gentleman to bring the bike back and apologize…it was very hard to make that call.”John Smith is the Executive Director of Duffy’s Foundation. He saw our story and jumped into action to help along with Duffy’s president.

Benefiting organizations and individuals who positively impact their local communities.

“So the very next day when I saw this news story me and Jason Emmett our company president decided we’re going to go out and replace those bikes/ We’re going to pull from our funds and pull from our hearts and go help the Arc of Palm Beach County.”

Duffy’s Foundation proudly presented the Arc of Palm Beach with a $2400 check and donation.

“We are extremely grateful to Duffy’s Foundation for reaching out to us and stepping forward to make an immediate difference in lives of our clients and bringing awareness to our clients and community.”

Grateful for the support from guests, staff and the community, John says everyone can make a difference.

“We believe everyone can help in the community it may not be with dollars it may be with your hands or your heart. We’re so delighted and grateful. We look forward to doing even more in the community.” says Smith.

We are grateful to CBS 12 for their ongoing media coverage and their responsiveness. I want to especially thank you for this follow-up story, because it’s so seldom that people get to hear the great side of what happens.” says Stewart.

Although this story has a happy ending, police still need your help finding those responsible for stealing the bikes. If you have any information, contact Riviera Beach Police (561) 845-4123
