NORTH PALM BEACH, Fl. (CBS12)– The Duffy’s Foundation recently hosted several Special Olympics Florida athletes, coaches, and volunteers as the foundation presented a donation to Special Olympics Florida in the amount of $25,000 on August 29 at their North Palm Beach restaurant.

“Because of the support of Duffy’s Sports Grill, Special Olympics Florida is able to provide quality sports training, competition, and health services for people with intellectual disabilities–all at no cost to them or their families. We are grateful for the generosity of Duffy’s and their loyal customers and for their commitment to empower Special Olympics Florida athletes.” says President & CEO of Special Olympics Florida, Sherry Wheelock.

The Duffy’s Foundation was able to make this donation due to the efforts of Duffy’s Sports Grill MVPs who participated in an on-line fundraiser for Special Olympics Florida. The donation to Special Olympics Florida will go towards setting up Young Athlete programs in communities served by Duffy’s Sports Grill 32 restaurants. Recently founded in February of 2016, The Duffy’s Foundation has donated over $100,000 to organizations and charitable causes in local communities served by Duffy’s Sports Grill.

“We are so grateful that our Duffy’s MVPs have been so generous to allow the Duffy’s Foundation to continue to support Special Olympics in memory of Jay Emmett, who gave a life-long commitment to Special Olympics since the organization’s inception. The outstanding work conducted by Special Olympics can be seen in all the communities Duffy’s serves. We look forward to continuing to help our dear friends at Special Olympics in whatever way we are able.” says Chairman of the Duffy’s Foundation, Geri Emmett.
